Artist Statement

As an artist, I am captivated by the natural world and the thrilling experiences of hunting and fishing. My work seeks to capture the beauty and wonder of the great outdoors, where the untamed landscapes and the resilient wildlife come alive in vivid detail.

Through my paintings and etchings, I strive to transport the viewer to these moments of serenity and adventure. Using a combination of field studies and studio work, I meticulously craft each piece, blending realism with a touch of impressionism. This approach allows me to highlight the focal points of my compositions, drawing the eye to the essence of the subject matter.

The works of renowned artists like Carl Rungius, Richard Bishop, Bob Kuhn and Eldridge Hardie have been a constant source of inspiration, guiding me in my pursuit of capturing the essence of the natural world. Their masterful depictions of wildlife and the great outdoors have shaped my artistic vision, and I aspire to emulate their level of technical skill and emotional resonance.

Through my art, I aim to share my deep appreciation for the beauty and fragility of nature. Whether it's the graceful movement of a majestic elk or the tranquility of a secluded fishing spot, my paintings and etchings invite the viewer to pause, to appreciate, and to connect with the natural world in a profound way.

As I continue to explore and experiment with my craft, I am driven by a relentless passion to create works that not only captivate the senses but also inspire a deeper understanding and respect for the natural world that we all share.
